We read and discuss a variety of Buddhist literature. Recent books include: How to Cook your Life: Instructions for the Zen Cook by Dogen and Uchiyama; Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind by Shunryu Suzuki; Seeds for a Boundless Life by Zenkei Blanche Hartman

SEASONAL CELEBRATIONS
ZAZENKAI: MONTHLY FULL DAY OF PRACTICE
We hold full-day sittings with a ceremonial three-bowl Oryoki lunch.
ROHATSU
Rohatsu, celebrated in December, commemorates Buddha’s Enlightenment.
VESAK
In the spring, we celebrate Vesak, the Buddha’s birth.
UDUMBARA
We conduct the Udumbara ceremony in the summer to honor the first transmission of the Buddha’s teaching.
O-BON
Fall brings O-Bon, a lantern-lighting ceremony honoring our ancestors, releasing those who have departed over the past year, and inviting their spirits back for a brief visit.
